The JMKAC offers a variety of early childhood classes and workshops, Discovery Studio for the Youth focusing on theater and movement, along with art and adventure camps for a range of age groups. Drop in for some fun creating something to take home and treasure. Designed for adults and children age 5 and older, these programs explore different art-making techniques and encourage imaginative experimenting in a collaborative environment.
Let your young ones' imagination flourish as their creative energy is unleashed. The ART-ery located at the John Michael Kohler Arts Center is a Free, drop in art making studio. Visitors of all ages are welcome to contribute to the collaborative installations. All artwork done at the ARTery is left for others to continue to add on or admire as is. Children under the age of ten must be accompanied by an adult.
Build your creative skills at the Jo-Ann store! They offer a complete lineup of sewing, crafting & cake decorating classes. Experiment, learn and grow with skilled instructors. A variety of classes just for kids and families is available for a range of craft projects including quilting, cake-decorating, papercrafting and jewelry-making techniques. The Mead Public Library hosts this series where participants can make a different art/craft project every month. The library will provide the supplies, but feel free to supplement with your own supplies. This is geared for adults and older children with the help of an adult, and is open to everyone. Projects have included making your own coasters and coloring. Check their website for dates and times.
The Rahr-West Art Museum offers multifaceted lessons supported by master artworks to help youth develop creativity, cross-cultural understandings, and communication skills. Workshops and classes include After-School Picassos, Ceramics, Mimicking the Masters, and canvas painting for kids. For the nominal class fee of $1, check out Preschool Palettes, where preschoolers can experience the art museum exhibits through gallery walks, discussions, and games through various classes throughout the year. Or have some family fun trying out the Wacky Weekend Workshops on Saturday afternoons ! These drop in workshop are free.
