Camp Anokijig

Summer Programs at Camp Anokijig are open to boys and girls ages 7 to 16.  Campers can come for four days, one week, two weeks, or for up to nine weeks of summer fun! 

 

The largest and most popular program is the Resident Camp, for the campers who want to do it all and are ready for the overnight camp experience!  A number of Day Trips are also available for campers who will be staying the week! Along with the Resident Camp, their are also  Specialty Programs that focus on a particular activity. These run at the same time as the Resident Camp so the participants will have opportunities to enjoy activities in both.

 

Have a younger camper, or a camper that just wants to dip their toes in and see what camp is all about? For younger or first-time campers who just want a taste of Resident Camp, they offer half-week Mini-Camp sessions.

Also, for the camper who wants to experience a more rustic style of camping, they offer Adventure Trips that start and end at Anokijig, but travel to seek out once-in-a-lifetime thrilling, unique outdoor adventure experiences!

What is Camp Anokijig?

Camp Anokijig is located on 356 acres of rolling hills and woodlands in the Glaciated Kettle Moraine Forest Area of Wisconsin. Anokijig surrounds almost three fourths of Little Elkhart Lake and owns the only island. Conveniently located, only 45 minutes north of Milwaukee and halfway between Fond du Lac and Sheboygan. Four miles north of Plymouth, on Hwy E, and a half-mile back into the woods is the main camp. Co-ed camp is offered during the summer.

When is Camp?

Camps are available for 9 weeks over the summer: June 11,  and  ending the week of August 12.

Does my Child have to Attend every Week?

You can choose for your child to attend all summer or choose only the weeks(sessions) they will attend. For weekly specialty camps, you can sign up just for the week or weeks that fits your child’s interest.

What is the Cost?

Cost varies by what you choose. Please see the full summer session fees for more information.

Is there a Sleepover Camp?

Yes, campers stay on-site overnight for the duration of the camps. Campers will live in a section by gender and grade group.Section or cabin assignments are made based upon enrollment and space available in the particular session. They will honor one housing request so friends of the same age may stay together in the same section.

  Resident Camp  

Offered Sessions 1 -9

Ages 7 - 16

This camp is for the camper who wants to do it all! Four different types of programming in one: Skill Periods, All-camp activities, Sectional activities, and Directed free time.  Campers choose and focus on specific activities in order to learn and enjoy a new skill. Activities might include: canoeing, archery, swimming, sports, fishing, arts/crafts, nature, trailcrafts, kayak, windsurf, and more. Participate in group games, beach parties, cookouts, campfires, carnivals, dances, sing-a-longs, waterfront Olympics, and the list goes on. Plus, weekly special theme days filled with outrageously fun activities. Campers who live together choose activities to enjoy as a group, and all program areas are staffed and supervised for the campers to pick and choose as they please during directed free play.

  Mini- Camp  

Offered Sessions 1 -9

Ages 7 - 16

 A short visit at Resident Camp for the younger or first-time camper. An introduction to all the fun and adventures of camp life, with the option to extend for the week. All the  same activities as Resident Camp—just a shorter stay. Mini Camp begins each Sunday of the summer schedule and ends Wednesday evening.

  Specialty Camps   

Specialty Camps programs combine all the activities of Resident Camp with a focus on one particular activity for part of the day. These all have limited enrollment, so don’t wait too long!See the full registration details for ALL camps offered.

 

Ranch Camp

Session 1 -9

Grades 7 and up

Participants will spend a portion of their day on our working ranch learning horse care and riding techniques. Each will be given their own horse to ride and care for under the close supervision of our staff. Lessons, ring work, trail rides, games and special events will fill your week. Riding lessons will take place "in the ring" and "on the trail" to help the camper learn the ways of a horse and develop confidence and riding skills. There is also ample time to enjoy all the other activities at Anokijig.

Circle-A Riders Camp

Session 1 -9

Grades 4 through 6 

This program is for younger campers who want to spend their time with our horses. Just as with the Ranch program, these campers will get to go on trail-rides, play games, and learn how to take care of these beautiful animals. Circle-A is held in the afternoons, so these campers will get to attend morning skill periods, too

 

Adventure Challenge Camp   

Session 2 -8

Grades 8 and up

Have you ever watched one of the dozens of Survivor-like shows on the air and said, “I could do that!” Now is your chance! “Barrel Boat Building”, “Human Foosball”, “Fire hose Lanyards”, and “4-Way Tug-O-War”, are just a few of the events that have thrilled Adventure Challenge Campers in the past. Any of these and more awaits your arrival. If you crave excitement, and are ready to be challenged both mentally and physically, you won’t be disappointed.Plus, when not on a challenge, you can enjoy the activities of Resident Camp.

Youth Shooting Sports Camp   

Session 3 and 9  ( June 25 to July 1; August 6 to August 12)

Grades 7 and up

This is an exciting one-of-a-kind opportunity for the budding hunter, weekend plinker, or future clay shooter enthusiast. Spend your mornings at The Highlands Sportsman’s Club, just a short bus ride from Anokijig. Designed for the novice shooter, you’ll learn safe, effective target shooting with .22 Rifle, 5-stand clay shooting, and Sporting Clays. Individual instruction from our team of 3 experienced instructors will get you the skills to succeed in this sport. All shooting sports instruction takes place at the off-site location, however when not at the range, you can enjoy all of the other great activities of Resident Camp.

Fishing Expeditions Camp   

Session 2, 3, 6, 7, 8  (June 18 to June 24; June 25 to July 1; July 16 to July 22; July 23 to July 29; July 30 to August 5)

Grades 6 and up

This is an exciting program that will be filled with variety, adventure, and a fishing good time. We will learn to fly fish and then travel to a premier trout area where we always catch our dinner. We’ll night fish from a pontoon boat or in our private fishing hole looking for Northern, Bass, and Pan Fish. Experience using a variety of baits, both live and artificial while trying new techniques. We will fish from shore, docks, and boats. Then top off the week with a Lake Michigan Charter trip (weather permitting) to bring home the real big ones. If you like to fish or want to learn, this will be the highlight of your summer. Come get hooked. Plus, when not wetting your line, you can enjoy the activities of Resident Camp.

Competitive Swim Camp

Session 3 (June 25 to July 1)

Grades 3 through 9

This program combines all of the activities of Anokijig with an added focus on the sport of competitive swimming. Designed for current (YMCA or U.S.S.) age-group competitive swimmers, activities include approximately two hours per day at a local pool practicing stroke techniques, starts, and turns. Each of the four competitive swimming strokes (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly) will be addressed. Swimmers are videotaped at each pool session and an hour at camp each morning is dedicated to slow motion review of technique and coaching to improve for the next session and beyond. Plus, when daily swim instruction is done you’ll have the opportunity to enjoy all of the activities of Resident Camp.

 

Camp Comedy

Session 5 (July 9 to July 15)

All Ages

Have you ever watched one of the many sketch comedy shows on TV and said “I could do that!”? Well here’s a chance to give it a try. Under the direction of an experienced professional comedic writer and actor, you’ll get to find your comic voice. Throughout the week campers will learn the basics of improvisation, writing, and performance, while creating their own comic sketch to perform at the final campfire. Plus when not working on their on-stage skills they can enjoy all of the great recreational activities of Resident Camp! Open to all ages.

 

Jewelry Creations (former Beads & Bling)

Session 5 (July 9 to July 15)

Grades 5 and up

It’s time to take your jewelry making to the next level. Move beyond survival bracelets and friendship string to explore the world of wire wrapping, intricate beading, and knotting/braiding that is out of this world! Impress your family and friends with beautiful jewelry creations that were made by YOU! Each morning, an expert jewelry instructor will guide you through a variety of techniques to make earrings, pendants, bracelets, and more! Each project is customizable with colors and styles to make the piece completely yours. No experience is necessary. All supplies and tools are provided. Plus, for the rest of each day, you can enjoy the activities of Resident Camp.

Noah's Ark - Wisconsin Dells

Session 4  - 9

Full-day trip

Spend the day at “America’s Largest Waterpark” and experience all the most thrilling waterslides and rides, including Black Anaconda, America’s Most Thrilling Water Coaster; Scorpion’s Tail (with a nearly vertical waterslide loop!), Surfin’ Safari, Time Warp, and many more. Plus, visit the Pizza Ranch buffet for dinner. Great Fun!

Whitewater Rafting

Session 1   - 5

Experience all the whitewater action of the famous “Roaring Rapids” of the Peshtigo River in your very own inflatable kayak. Paintball

Session 2   - 9

Up the intensity of your game on a large, 3-acre rec-ball field. With over 60 bunkers to hide behind, strategize with your team to navigate the rolling terrain and capture the flag or eliminate the other team. Go-Kart Adventure Plus

Become the next “Master of the Track” when you select from one of the many Andretti Superkarts and challenge a friend to a few laps of thrilling adventure around the track. “Down ’N Dirty” Cave Spelunking

Explore the mystery of ancient glacial caves at Ledgeview Nature Center. Walk and crawl through an amazing underground world, guided by a park naturalist.

Inflatable Aqua Park

Session 1 - 9

(Fond Du Lac, WI) Get ready to climb, slide, and bounce your way into a splash-down adventure! On this half-day daytrip, challenge a friend to race down the 96-foot inflatable Zoom Flume racing slide, explore the Wibit (inflatable with slides, climbs, trampolines, bridges, balance beams, wall climbs, tower jump, and launcher). No visit is complete without a trip down the near vertical drop slides that send the rider into a 40-foot, splashing, spraying runway. All water-entry slides enter into a lake with controlled access and separated activity areas. Life jackets required & provided. Lifeguarding by Anokijig Staff.

These week-long trips are for the camper who wants to experience a more rustic style of camping and explore unique outdoor adventures.

Whitewater Trip

Session 2 (June 18 to June 24)

Grades 7 and up

If you like adventure, this will be the highlight of your summer and talked about forever. Spend your first day at Anokijig preparing for the week’s adventures. The following day, the group will travel to the scenic Northeastern part of Wisconsin and set up a base camp at Wildman Whitewater Adventure Resort. Here, you will have the opportunity to challenge yourself and spend the afternoon on the Alpine Climbing Tower. For even more excitement, the remaining days of the week will bring new adventures on the river. Ride the big rafts on the Menominee and individually “Thrill-Cat” (small catamarans) on the Peshtigo; not once but TWICE this year…definitely no dull moments on this trip. Finish up your week back at Anokijig with the Beach Party and closing campfire ceremony. Equipment is provided, so come along and just have fun.

Rock, Roll, & Splash Trip

Session 7 (July 23 to July 29)

Grades 7 and up

This adventure begins with a day of pre-trip and free period activities at Camp. Next we travel to Brookfield, Wisconsin to learn the latest climbing techniques and challenge you on over 9500 sq. feet of indoor climbing surface at Adventure Rock. Then it’s on to Devil’s Lake State Park, one of Wisconsin’s premier lakes. Crystal blue water and a beautiful campground will be the setting for camping, swimming, and a full day of outdoor natural rock climbing with professional instructors. Next it’s over to "America’s Largest Waterpark”; Noah’s Ark to spend the day experiencing all the most thrilling waterslides and rides, including Black Anaconda, America’s Most Thrilling Water Coaster; Scorpion’s Tail (with a nearly vertical waterslide loop!); Surfin’ Safari, Time Warp, and many more! The final day will take you to Fondy Sports Park, Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin for your choice of Off-road and Indy style GO-KARTING, batting cages, mini-golf, 3-d Crazy Maze, bumper boats, arcades, aero-trim gyro weightlessness machine, and golf driving range. Your last night will be spent at Camp enjoying the Beach Party and closing campfire ceremony.

Apostle Islands Trip

Session 6 (July 16 to July 22)

Grades 7 and up

This is another Anokijig adventure to remember. You will travel to Bayfield, Wisconsin; gateway to Apostle Island National Lakeshore. Situated just off of the Southwestern shores of Lake Superior, the Apostle islands are a beautiful natural treasure waiting for you to explore. Upon arrival you’ll meet with professional sea kayaking guides for kayak safety and skill training. Following your training you’ll set out with your guides and the Anokijig Staff for 3 days of adventure camping and kayaking on and around several of the Apostle Islands. Your last day will find you traveling back to Anokijig to take part in the Beach Party and closing campfire ceremony. Bring your camera; you’ll want to relive this trip for years to come.

Sylvania Backcountry Canoe Fishing Trip

Session 5 (July 9 to July 15)

Grades 7 and up

This trip is for those who really want to experience canoe camping as well as do some great fishing. Join us for some amazing Smallmouth Bass and Northern Pike fishing while exploring a hidden gem of the Midwest, the Sylvania Wilderness Area. Start your week with a day at Anokijig learning canoe basics, trip preparation, and safety; as well as enjoying a host of free period offerings. Then we are off to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan for backcountry camping and fishing at its best! We return to camp Friday evening just in time for thebeach party and closing ceremonies. We provide the canoes, gear, and all the equipment you will need, you provide the spirit of adventure!
