Don't Forget - Mother's Day is this Sunday, May 14! Check out our Mother's Day Post, filled with local area activities from area organizations that provide IDEAS and SUPPLIES for kids' to make a special gift for mom/grandma/aunts - plus a few fun ways to celebrate the day, too!

Monday, May 8

Home Alone/Babysitting Course Manitowoc

8:00 am – 4:00 pm

Ages: 9 - 14 years old

In this comprehensive class, participants will learn winning ways to talk to young children. They will also learn information needed to handle emergencies, as well as CPR and AED. Safety tips as children begin to stay home alone or with younger children, also will be covered. This is an eight hour class, which includes a lunch break (students bring own lunch). Class will be held at Manitowoc Senior Center/Recreation Department. Call the Recreation Department at 920-686-3060 to register or register online.

Seasonal Community Potluck & Recipe Exchange Plymouth

Come build community around healthy, seasonal food! Bring your family and a favorite healthy dish to pass. We challenge you to make seasonally inspired dishes that are whole grain, low in sugar, and include fruits and vegetables. Little Movers Facilitated Playgroup – Plymouth

Ages: For children ages 2 1/2 to 4 years of age, accompanied by an adult

A collaborative effort of the Family Resource Center and Rehab Resources Inc. that has an emphasis on movement and play. Our belief is that one way children learn is through moving and exploring their surroundings. Held at Generations Intergenerational Center, kids crawl, climb, push/pull, jump, and run on, around, and through all kinds of obstacles.Little Movers is a facilitated play group that offers many of these fun activities, guided by the physical therapy staff at Rehab Resources, Inc. These activities promote strength, endurance, body awareness, balance and coordination. Parents/caretakers learn about the benefits of play through movement and may also learn some new activities to try at home. Come join the fun! Free.

Watch High School students launch home made rockets 5,000 feet into the air! Rockets For Schools provides an opportunity for students to learn about aerospace technology, scientific experiments, and space launches.Student teams construct a rocket equipped with a powerful motor that lifts it to high altitudes.Besides constructing their rocket, students design a payload experiment to fly in their rocket. In addition, students give an oral presentation and prepare a visual display of their experiment to exhibit at the event.!

Sprouts & Seedlings Preschool Play Time Sheboygan

Join us for a magical morning in the Gardens! May’s theme is Spring Detectives! Get ready to learn all about seeds, plant a rainbow, and explore the signs of the changing seasons. Activities will be guided by the seasons and include story time, art-making inspired by nature, and a themed snack. Experienced educators will encourage children to nurture their sense of wonder through play, ask questions about the world around them, and experience the Gardens with all five of their senses! Discovering the Sheboygan River Path Sheboygan

Enjoy a trip along the Sheboygan River while learning the history and viewing local wildlife. Camp Y-Koda is collaborating with the Sheboygan River Basin Partnership and the Lakeshore Natural Resource Partnership to highlight a recent river mapping project that identifies entry and exit locations and other points of interest along the river. Instruction and all equipment will be provided. The starting and ending points are to be determined. Participants will be contacted with details the Wednesday prior to each trip. Free but must be pre-registered.

Ed Riddick of Celebrate Marriage is our speaker for this Date Night. Ed has years of experience counseling couples. He holds a Master’s degree in counseling with a focus on marriage and family counseling. Recognizing the need for focused attention on conflict resolution, he pursued a specialty in Dispute Resolution (MDR). His expertise is communication and conflict resolution.
